The Boat For shallow water sight casting in our waters, I run a 2007 Beavertail B2 skiff (www.beavertailskiffs.com). It is a technical poling skiff designed to access remote waters well off the beaten path. For shallow water redfishing in less than a foot of water, a specialized (shallow draft, lightweight, and quiet) vessel with fishing-friendly features is a must. The trade off for running such a small boat is that parties are limited to two anglers. This ensures plenty of unobstructed fishing space for both anglers. You will find the boat comfortable and quite capable of pursuing redfish in water much too shallow for most light tackle boats. It also features plenty of safe storage for your fly rods and spinning gear.
